Carmel man arrested at school board meeting

On Monday, while working at a Carmel Clay school board meeting, a Carmel police officer witnessed a handgun fall from the pocket of a man who was in attendance. Officers immediately took control of the weapon and detained the individual. He was escorted from the venue and questioned about the incident.

The suspect in this case has been identified as Robert Lesher, 69, Carmel. He has been arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. He has been charged with one count of Possession of a Firearm on School Property, a Level 6 felony.

As a result of the investigation, Carmel police do not believe Lesher posed a threat to anyone attending the school board meeting or otherwise.
