Carmel makes big splash at state meet

The Indiana Swimming Age Group State meet finished up Sunday at the IU Natatorium, and Carmel Swim Club scored another dominating victory.

Carmel won the combined meet with 2,664 points, also finishing first in the boys and girls category. Fishers Area Swimming Tigers took second with 1,447.5 points, while Southeastern Swim Club took fourth with 909.5. Fishers was second in the boys meet, while Southeastern was the girls runner-up.

Carmel won 10 events on Sunday, including double wins from Kayden Lancaster in the Boys 13-14 800 and 200 freestyles, and Carter Lancaster in the Boys 11-12 50 breaststroke and 50 backstroke. Lexie Ward paced the Girls 11-12 200 free, Meghan Christman was first in the Girls 13-14 200 free, and Carmel swept the Girls 13-14 and Boys 13-14 400 free relays, as well as the Girls 11-12 and Boys 11-12 200 free relays.

Southeastern had two event wins. Avery Hannon took the Girls 10 and under 50 backstroke, and Southeastern also was first in the Girls 10 and under 200 free relay.

Jo Jo Ramey picked up a victory for Fishers in the Girls 13-14 200 backstroke.

Among other county teams, Noblesville Swim Club was 28th with 212 points, Power Aquatics took 35th with 107 points (Ayla Madara was second in the Girls 10 and under 200 free), and Westfield Aquatics placed 39th with 71 points.
