The City of Carmel has changed the lighting in two prominent areas of the city to show solidarity and support for the people of Ukraine who are under attack by Russian armed forces.

Mayor Jim Brainard ordered the color schemes be changed to blue and yellow on the Monon Greenway Bridge that spans Carmel Drive, just west of Range Line Road, and the same be done for the ambient lighting at Midtown Plaza.

“We stand in full support of the people of Ukraine who are fighting for representative government and their freedom,” Brainard said. “We are fortunate here in Carmel to have many residents of Ukrainian descent and we want them to know that we feel their pain and we hope and pray for peace in their homeland.”
