The Carmel girls track and field team soared to victory last Saturday at the Hoosier State Relays, which took place at the Indiana State Fairgrounds’ Fall Creek Pavilion.

The Greyhounds totaled 86 points to win the Girls Large School Division team championship, with the bulk of those points coming from their relay success. Relays count for double points at the meet, and Carmel finished in the top two of all four relays.

The ‘Hounds scored a victory in the 4×400 relay, with Gabriela Grande Rosas, Olivia Cebalo, Livi Miller and Emily Norris winning that event in 3 minutes, 50.18 seconds. Carmel then got runner-up finishes in the 4×200, 4×400 and distance medley relays.

Annabel Pollert, one of the DMR runners, placed second in the 3200 run. Norris ran on the 4×200 relay and picked up two more top-five finishes in the long jump (third) and 60-meter dash (fifth).
