The Carmel girls basketball team shrugged off a slow start to overwhelm Anderson 88-55 in a Wednesday away game.
The Indians led the Greyhounds 20-19 after the first quarter. Carmel then scored 23 points in each of the next three periods, while holding Anderson to 35 points during that time. The ‘Hounds led 42-33 at halftime.
Macy Berglund had an exceptional game, scoring 22 points on 9-of-9 shooting from the field and a 4-of-4 performance from the free throw line. Kate Clarke added 13 points, with Bridget Dunn and Reagan Hune both pouring in 12 points.
Dunn led the rebounds with nine, with Riley Pennington collecting five rebounds. Carmel had 23 team assists; Kiara Gill dished out five, while Sophie Bair and Tally Seitz each handed out four.
The Greyhounds are 8-9 and host Kokomo tonight in a make-up game that was originally scheduled for Dec. 27, but was postponed after the explosion at the high school.
