The Carmel tennis doubles team of senior Srisanth Malpeddi and junior Jack Jentz advanced to the semi-finals of the IHSAA doubles state tournament on Friday.
In an all-county match, Malpeddi and Jentz beat Hamilton Southeastern seniors Aiden De Witt and Andrew Spirrison 6-0, 6-4. The match was moved to the Community Sports and Wellness Center in Pendleton due to Friday’s rainy weather.
Malpeddi and Jentz will play Floyd Central seniors Landon Hodges and Colin Jacobi in today’s semi-finals, which begin at 10 a.m. at Carmel’s Todd Witsken Tennis Center. In the other semi-final, Bloomington South juniors Chris Lian and Michael Asplund will take on the Munster team of junior Daniel Sroka and senior Charles Morton.
The semi-final winners will play for the state championship at 2 p.m., also at Carmel.
