The Carmel Democratic Club has organized an Environmental Cleanup Day in conjunction with Carmel Clay Parks Department, Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District, and HIP (Hamilton County Invasives Partnership).
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, May 15 at River Heritage Park, 11813 River Road, Carmel.
The Democratic Club monthly meeting in April welcomed speakers to educate the group on the threat of invasive species to the state and specifically to local parks, plants, and animals. Democrats say protecting the environment will be a key issue this fall for many people at the voting booth. The City of Carmel boasts some of the most beautiful parks in Indiana, and protecting them and keeping them thriving is important to everyone who enjoys this community.
Club members, along with Democratic candidates running for municipal office in Carmel, will gather at River Heritage Park to clean up invasive plants that choke out native species and threaten the native plants and wildlife of the community.
