Carmel picked up its third consecutive win Thursday, cruising past West Lafayette 48-25 at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The Greyhounds delivered a fine defensive effort, never letting the Red Devils score more than seven points in a quarter. Carmel led 14-6 after the first quarter and 20-11 at halftime.
In the third period, Mackenzie Thomas took over, scoring 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting, helping the Greyhounds to a 38-18 lead by the end of the quarter. Thomas would go on to lead all scorers with 16 points, and also pulled six rebounds.
Emily Roper had a solid all-around game with nine rebounds, seven points, five steals and four assists. Jamie Elliott scored seven points and Laura Valiente collected five rebounds.
Carmel is 4-3 and hosts Warren Central tonight in a Metropolitan Conference game.
