Point of Clarification: The Carmel Clay Historical Society wants readers to know that neither the Monon Depot nor Orchard Park Elementary School are open to the public. CCHS does not, in fact, have an office within Orchard Park, but you can call (317) 846-7117 for information.
There are many changes happening at the Carmel Clay Historical Society (CCHS).
CCHS has moved its archival items from the Depot to Orchard Park Elementary School, 10404 Orchard Park Drive South.
CCHS will not receive mail at this location. The new mailing address for the Carmel Clay Historical Society is P.O. Box 4777, Carmel, IN 46082. If you have recently sent correspondence to CCHS, the forwarding of the letters is a bit slow. However, CCHS staff say they are confident everything will soon be in line.
While change brings some challenges, CCHS staff and many volunteers have worked incredibly hard to make this move go as smoothly as possible. CCHS is grateful to Carmel Clay Schools for sharing Orchard Park Elementary at this time.
The depot is completely empty except for a few items that will move with it to a temporary location. This decision was made to protect the Depot from machines and materials needed for the construction of the new Carmel Clay History Museum. There is not a set timeline for the move at this point, but an update will be announced once plans are finalized.
CCHS staff say they will be thrilled when this new facility is close to completion and the Depot is returned to its spot along the Monon, where it will house an important exhibit for the museum.
