On Dec. 4, the Carmel Christkindlmarkt will hold the inaugural Glühwein Gallop 5K, presented by the Tuxedo Brothers, who also direct many area events.
“The Carmel Christkindlmarkt is thrilled to be adding our first annual Glühwein Gallop 5K to the lineup of events associated with the market this year,” said Maria Murphy, CEO and Market Master of the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. “We anticipate it being just as popular as the warm mulled wine – or as the Germans call it, Glühwein – which is sold at the market.”
“We know the race will be a success as we are working with the experienced race management team Tuxedo Brothers,” Murphy added. “They always go above and beyond to make the experience of the runners exceptional.”
The Glühwein Gallop will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Dec. 4. This scenic 5K course will start and finish at the Christkindlmarkt festival, traveling on the Monon Trail and past the shops along Main Street and Range Line Road.
In addition to the race, there will also be a costume contest, and prizes will be awarded to the judges’ favorite entries. Upon completing the race, those 21 and older will receive a ticket for a free serving of Glühwein or beer.
“Tuxedo Brothers are very excited to be involved in this new event that will be part of the Christkindlmarkt this December,” said Don Carr, president and owner of Tuxedo Brothers. “With the great success and history of the festival, we are confident we’ll get a great crowd to participate in this new 5K.”
This event is open to all ages and abilities. Discounted, early bird registration will continue through Oct. 31 and is $32 per participant. Those interested can register at bit.ly/GluhweinGallop.
