Carmel beats LN, clinches share of MIC title

The Carmel boys basketball team clinched a share of the Metropolitan Conference championship on Monday by beating Lawrence North 68-61 Monday at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The Greyhounds, ranked No. 2 in the IBCA one-class poll and No. 3 in the Class 4A Associated Press poll, led 8-3 after the first quarter and 27-12 at halftime. Carmel added to its lead in the third quarter, going up 46-29 by the end of the period. The Wildcats, ranked No. 18 in the IBCA poll, poured in 32 points in the fourth quarter, but the ‘Hounds scored 22 to hold them off.
Peter Suder had a sensational game, scoring 33 points on 11 of 12 shooting. Suder was 9-of-9 from two-point ranged and threw in two 3-pointers as well. Charlie Williams added 11 points. Sam Orme collected six rebounds and Suder pulled five.
Carmel is 6-0 in MIC play and 14-4 overall. The Greyhounds play Friday at Hamilton Southeastern.
