Carmel beats LC, ties for third in MIC

Carmel jumped ahead in the third quarter, then held off Lawrence Central in the fourth quarter, and walked away from the Bears’ field with a 21-19 victory on Friday.
The Class 6A No. 9 Greyhounds led 7-6 at halftime, with Atticus Clouse catching a 14-yard pass from Gabe Quigley early in the second period. Carmel then led 20-6 after three periods; Quigley struck again with an 18-yard touchdown throw to Jack Rodimel, then Dylan Downing scored on a short run with 26 seconds left in the quarter.
Fourth-ranked Lawrence Central scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, but Carmel was able to hang on. With the win, the ‘Hounds finished in a three-way tie for third in the Metropolitan Conference; Carmel, the Bears and Pike all completed play with 4-3 records.
Downing finished the game with 69 yards on 15 carries, while Camari Hunt rushed 17 times for 68 yards. Quigley made the most of his throws, going 4-of-6 for 84 yards.
Carmel finished the regular season at 5-4.
