By the numbers: 37th year, 36 stories, $1M goal for Riley

The 37th Annual “Bop to the Top” – a one-way race from the ground floor to the top of One America Tower in downtown Indianapolis – will take place Saturday, Jan. 19. Participants will begin bopping 36 floors (that’s 780 steps) to the Kroger Top at 8:30 a.m.

Don Carr of Tuxedo Brothers Event Management started this event 37 years ago. He has watched it grow significantly over the years and is proud to announce that this may be the year donations will top the $1 million mark.

Runners pay from $22 to $33 each to compete, based on their age. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Riley Children’s Hospital/Indiana University Health. More than 1,000 participants ages 4 to 84 are expected to take the challenge, including a special firefighter division featuring firefighters in full gear tackling the stairs.

Bop to the Top is proud to support Riley Hospital for Children. You can join in this important cause by becoming an event sponsor or a floor sponsor. Sponsorship includes a booth in the lobby during the event and the chance to distribute flyers or coupons to participants, 45 percent of whom are women and 75 percent of whom live in the metro Indy area.

Many vendors will be available and the event is great family fun. Participants will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt when they finish. You can pre-register or register at the site after 7:30 a.m. the morning of the event.
