It took two buzzer-beaters, but the Noblesville girls basketball team was able to hold off Anderson Tuesday night at The Mill.
First up, Madison Whetro made a short floater with time running out in regulation to get the Millers tied with the Indians at 58-all. Then after Noblesville trailed for the majority of overtime, Emily Kiser made a layin at the buzzer to give the Millers a 63-62 win.
“We really did not execute very well on the defensive end at all tonight,” said Noblesville coach Donna Buckley. “But we hung around, made some plays. Right at the end of regulation, Madison hit a shot to send it to overtime. We had to make some really big plays to win the game.”
The Millers got off to a fast start in the first quarter before Anderson came back to within 15-13 by the end of the period. Noblesville led 34-27 at halftime, but the Indians tied the game by the end of the third quarter.
Kiser had another incredible game, with 26 points and 21 rebounds. She also had four steals. Mallory Johnson scored 14 points, and Maddie Knight pulled six rebounds.
As a team, the Millers handed out 23 assists. Abby Haley had six, with Johnson and Kiser each dishing out five and Knight handing out four.
Noblesville is now 6-6 for the season and plays a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at Westfield Saturday afternoon.
