Carmel graduate Veronica Burchill had the best finish of the local swimmers in Wednesday’ action at the Phillips 66 USA Swimming National Championships.
Burchill, now at the University of Georgia, placed 12th in the women’s 50 butterfly event. Meanwhile, Carmel’s Claire Adams, a University of Texas swimmer, won the “C” final (placing 17th) in the women’s 200 backstroke. Emma Nordin, who graduated from Carmel this past spring, finished 19th in the women’s 200 freestyle.
On the men’s side, Carmel senior-to-be Drew Kibler reached the “C” final in two events. Kibler placed 19th in the 200 free and 24th in the 200 backstroke.
