Hamilton Southeastern lost a tough Hoosier Crossroads Conference opener at Brownsburg on Tuesday, as the Bulldogs hit a seventh-inning home run to win 6-5.
The Royals got off to a great start, with three runs in the first inning. Jordan Rager singled in Abby Taylor, then Nicole Lang smacked a two-run homer.
The Bulldogs would eventually tie the game at 3-3 by the third inning, but Southeastern got back on top in the fifth, as Kaelin Wincek sent a two-run home run over the left field fence. Lillian Leiner also scored. Brownsburg cut the lead to 5-4 in the seventh inning with an RBI groundout, then a two-run homer ended the game.
Rager and Wincek both had two hits. Jaylah Guilliam pitched the entire game, striking out three.
The Royals are 1-1 and will next play April 5 and 6 at the Terre Haute South Invitational.
