Bruch clinches title at Golfweek Hoosier Amateur tournament

Jocelyn Bruch, a former state champion golfer for Westfield High School, has picked up another big championship.

Bruch won the Golfweek Hoosier Amateur women’s tournament, a 54-hole event that began on Tuesday and finished on Thursday at the Pfau Course at Indiana University. The soon-to-be senior at Purdue University won with a 73-72-73=218, outpacing runner-up Madison Reemsnyder of Canton, Ohio by four strokes.

Bruch totaled 11 birdies for the tournament. She made four in her first two rounds, then drained three more in her third round.

Two other local players also competed in the women’s event. Katelyn Kuc, a Carmel graduate now playing at Xavier University, finished tied for eighth place with a 75-76-83=234. Yanah Ralston, a Hamilton Southeastern graduate now playing for IUPUI, tied for 18th with an 88-77-85=250. Kuc made one birdie in the second round, while Rolston had three birdies in her second round.

Noblesville graduate Will Perkins competed in the men’s tournament, where he scored 83-79-82=244, tying for 68th place. Perkins, now playing at Southern Indiana, birdied the 17th hole in both the first and second round.
