Brooks uninjured in West Virginia train, truck accident

A chartered train carrying dozens of GOP lawmakers to a Republican retreat in West Virginia struck a garbage truck south of Charlottesville, Va. on Wednesday, lawmakers said.

No lawmakers were believed injured in the accident. Several members of the Indiana delegation were on the train.

Rep. Susan Brooks, Rep. Jim Banks and Sen. Todd Young were all on the train, but put out messages on social media saying there were unharmed.

Following the accident Brooks tweeted, “Me & my Chief of Staff, Megan Savage, are okay. Prayers for those who were injured & those who have suffered any injury on the train. So grateful for the doctors in Congress who are helping as we speak.”
