On Friday, Congresswoman Susan Brooks presented a Congressional Record to Saint Maria Goretti School in Westfield for being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School.

The Congressional Record is the official record of Congress – including all proceedings, debates, votes and remarks made on the House floor.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

Every year, the U.S. Department of Education seeks out and celebrates great American schools – schools demonstrating that all students can achieve to high levels. This year, 362 schools in the country were awarded this honor.
