Dear Editor:
I read Representative Spartz’s letter to her constituents and could not find anything wrong with the reason she voted no on the passing of the $1.9 trillion stimulus package.
She said, “but this bill does not address the concerns of everyday Americans. It addresses the desires of the Majority. It also does not address small business struggles. Instead, it adds more regulations on businesses already suffering from the pandemic.”
I support her judgment on these facts she is presenting. She also said less than 9 percent of this bill goes to defeating COVID-19. I ask, where does the other 91 percent of this bill go?
I do not support sending money to any city, local government, or state that is not fiscally responsible with their monies, such as Chicago and New York. I do not support any money going to corporate businesses who were allowed to stay open during the shut downs, any large institutions such as art museums who are non-profits, and any entity that has large amounts of money in store. I support all small business owners who were forced to shut down their businesses being accused as “non-essential”!
And by the way, we all have different definitions of who “everyday Americans” are. My definition would not be your definition. The everyday Americans I know are the ones who support common sense and believe in law and order and fairness in the law. They support our flag, the Bill of Rights and our Constitution. They do not kneel while our National Anthem is being played. They believe in God and support the lives of children. They do not force their ideologies unto others who believe differently. They believe in freedom of speech for all and no censoring or canceling out of other opinions.
This is how I believe as an everyday American.
