Boys tennis: State singles/doubles pairings announced

The IHSAA has announced the pairings for the boys state singles and doubles tournament, which begins on Friday at North Central.
In singles, Guerin Catholic senior Cole Metzger will take on Brownsburg’s Peter Petrovic in Match 4 of the quarter-finals. The winner will play in the Saturday morning semi-finals and play the winner of Match 3, which will be contested between Terre Haute South senior Canaan Sellers and Fort Wayne Canterbury sophomore Kush Anand.
The other two quarter-finals will see North Central senior Ajay Mahentiran play Bloomington North sophomore Nicholas Shirley in Match 1, and South Bend St. Joseph junior Daniel Pries take on Whiteland senior Quinten Gillespie in Match 2.
In doubles, the Hamilton Southeastern team of sophomore Paul Schneider and junior Andrew Spirrison will play in Match 3 against Munster juniors Charlie Morton and Ryan Muntean. The winner plays in the semi-finals against the Match 2 winner; that match will see the Delta team of junior Walker Boyle and senior Brandon Jackson play Culver Academies seniors Nathaniel Posner and Paul Wilson.
Match 1 will be played between Bloomington South seniors Marcell Borhi and Ethan Uhls and Zionsville seniors Ryan Carr and Nicholas Winters. The winner of that match will advance to the semi-finals to play the Carmel team of junior Srisanth Malpeddi and senior Jones McNamar. The Greyhounds received a bye into the semi-finals; they are the top-seeded team in the tournament as part of Carmel’s team state championship.
All quarter-final matches will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday. The winners advance to the semi-finals at North Central, which start at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the championship matches at 2 p.m. Saturday.
