The IHSAA announced the pairings for the boys tennis sectional tournament on Monday.
The eight Hamilton County teams will be split among two sectionals, both of which begin play today with the semi-finals. Hamilton Southeastern will host Sectional 45, and the defending champion and fifth-ranked Royals play Noblesville in a semi-final match. No. 11 Fishers will take on Hamilton Heights in the other semi-final.
Carmel will host Sectional 53 at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center. The No. 2-ranked and six-time defending state champion Greyhounds play No. 26 Guerin Catholic in one semi-final. No. 22 Westfield plays University in the other semi-final.
Action at Southeastern begins at 4:30 p.m., with play at Carmel starting at 5:15 p.m. Today’s winners advance to their respective championships, which take place on Thursday.
MILLERS WIN
Noblesville opened play at its brand-new tennis facility with a 5-0 win over Pendleton Heights on Monday.
The Millers got straight-set victories in all five matches. In singles, No. 1 Ethan Feliciano won 6-2, 6-3, No. 2 Jack Brenneman picked up a 6-2, 6-0 victory and No. 3 Jack Gigante won 6-1, 6-1. In doubles, No. 1 Rory Bushong and Liam Shepard were 6-1, 6-4 winners and No. 2 Camden David and Caden David won 6-2, 6-0.
