Boys tennis: Millers beat Tigers, Royals sweep Franklin Central

The Noblesville boys tennis team won an all-county meet at Fishers on Monday.

The No. 26-ranked Millers beat the No. 20 Tigers 4-1. All of the matches were decided in straight sets. For Noblesville, No. 2 singles Zane Panning won 6-0, 6-2, with No. 3 singles Max Habel getting a 7-5, 6-0 victory. Fishers No. 1 singles Gavin Conrad won his match 6-1, 6-0.

Both doubles matches went to the Millers. No. 1 Jack Brenneman and Dane Campbell won 6-4, 6-4, while No. 2 Parker Stallings and Dustin Turpin were 6-3, 6-2 winners.

Noblesville followed that win with a 3-2 victory over No. 13 Cathedral on Tuesday. Panning took the No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-2, Brenneman and Campbell cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 No. 1 doubles win, and Stallings and Turpin won at No. 2 doubles 6-3, 6-3.

Both teams are back in action Thursday at Fishers for the first round of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet.

Hamilton Southeastern, ranked No. 16, swept Franklin Central 5-0 in an HCC dual meet on Monday.

“The win tonight makes us 6-1 in the conference and sets us up well for the conference tournament this weekend,” said Royals coach Doug Gernert.

Southeastern plays at No. 21 Park Tudor this afternoon before heading to Fishers on Thursday for the HCC meet.
