Boys soccer: Tigers, Royals win close conference games

Fishers won an all-county boys soccer game at Noblesville on Tuesday, 1-0 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
The contest was scoreless until the 76th minute, when the Tigers broke through. Elliott Mozingo sent a free kick to Jonah Chapple, who made a header into the net.
Fishers coach Phil Schmidt called it a “gritty, defensive effort,” saying that “strong goalkeeping by Brendan Wiger kept the net clean and gave us a chance to win it late.”

Hamilton Southeastern also got a tough HCC victory on Tuesday, beating Avon 3-2.
The Royals got goals from Brock Hatfield, Chayton Davidson and Zaden Eby-Holmes to secure the victory.

Carmel picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday, beating Brebeuf Jesuit 4-0.
Caleb Hussain, Graham Rieg, Jackson Hoover and Ted Piha each scored one goal for the Class 3A No. 15 Greyhounds. Sebastian Penix made two assists, with Drew Finkam getting one. Brody Sullivan recorded the shutout.
“I couldn’t be more proud of my team,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt. “I felt that their effort and commitment level was awesome this evening. We will continue to work hard and get better.”

Westfield dropped 2-0 HCC contest to Class 3A No. 1 Zionsville on Tuesday.
The Shamrocks were led in the attack by Nick Rogers and Miguel Ayala, while midfielder Conor McLaren and central defenders Noah Lancaster and Tyler Dohse also had good performances.
