The Noblesville boys soccer team got a nice win on Thursday, beating Cathedral 1-0 at the White River Elementary School field.
The game was scoreless through halftime but the Millers broke through with 13:01 remaining. Brady Anderson sent a cross to freshman Palmer Ault, who booted it in from about 10 yards out.
Noblesville then held firm for the remainder of the game, as the Irish made several strong pushes, including two shots that hit the posts. Goalkeeper Adam Carter kept the clean sheet for the Millers.
“We got the goal, we got lucky a couple times with them hitting the post,” said Noblesville coach Adam Dollaske. “But when it mattered, our defense clamped down, our goalie made some good saves. Really, it’s just one bounce of the ball that goes our way and that’s what we did tonight.”
Curtis Martin returned from an injury and played quality minutes, while Josh Lovett anchored the defense at both center and wing back.
The Millers are 5-5-1 for the season and are back at home Saturday morning for a game with Pike, the No. 17-ranked team in Class 3A.

Carmel, ranked No. 14 in 3A, played to a 1-1 tie with Warren Central on Thursday.
Junior Ted Piha scored the goal for the 3A No. 14 Greyhounds, with junior Drew Finkam making the assist.
“I felt we created several good opportunities in the second half. We were unlucky to not find the back of the net more than once. We have to re-gather and get ready for another tough opponent in Homestead tomorrow night for our annual Pack the House/Make Good Decisions/Indiana Lifelines Law Game,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt.
The game with 3A No. 16 Homestead starts at 8 p.m. at Murray Stadium. Carmel is now 3-1-6 for the season

Hamilton Heights fell to Northwestern 3-0 on Thursday.
The Tigers scored their first goal in the 17th minute, and that would lead to a 1-0 halftime advantage. Northwestern then scored twice in the last 10 minutes of the second half.
Heights coach Derrick Dean said his team “saw some great minutes from key starters that are starting to come back from injuries” and that Caleb Stuart was the 2A No. 17 Huskies’ Player of the Game “for his great effort, physical play, and hard work. As well as much better ball movement.”
The Huskies are 4-5-1 for the season and will host their Husky Invitational on Saturday.

Hamilton Southeastern beat Mount Vernon 3-0 on Thursday.
Haris Mizuta scored his first varsity goal to get the 3A No. 4 Royals on the board, then Bryce Wetzel found the back of the net assisted by Harsahil Gandham to give HSE a 2-0 halftime lead. Brock Hatfield scored in the second half from 25 yards, with Mizuta making the assist.
The Royals are 8-1-2 for the season and will play at 3A No. 1 Zionsville on Tuesday in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
