Boys soccer: Royals win showdown with ‘Blazers

Hamilton Southeastern won a boys soccer showdown with University 2-0 on Thursday.
The Class 3A No. 2 Royals scored five minutes into the game, with Cale Barnes finding the back of the net from an assist by Matt Kuster. The 1A No. 5 Trailblazers played tough defensively, but HSE got its second goal in the second half when Sean Williams scored.
Ben Haxton and Michael Flores-Rodriguez combined to give the Royals their third shutout of the year.

Hamilton Heights dropped a 3-1 game to Kokomo on Thursday.
After a scoreless first half, the Wildcats put in a 30-yard free kick to get the first goal of the game. Kokomo added two more goals, but the Huskies broke through with 4:30 left when Drew Tomaszewski found Zach Clark on the back post.
Caleb Grabarz had three saves. Clark was the Player of the Game for his hard work, determination and positive play, said HHHS coach Derrick Dean.
