Boys soccer: Royals rush past Brownsburg

The Hamilton Southeastern boys soccer team cruised to a 3-1 victory over Brownsburg Tuesday in its Hoosier Crossroads Conference opener.

The Bulldogs scored their goal in the first half, after which the Royals dominated the second half by scoring all three of their goals. Jean Oquendo got Southeastern on the board in the 49th minute, then Cooper Perez put in the go-ahead goal three minutes later. Gabe Russell finished the HSE scoring with a goal in the 72nd minute.

Oquendo and Jack Anderson both made one assist. Riley Bedics made two goalkeeper saves and Dominic Sherman had one.

The Royals are 3-0-1 and host Pendleton Heights on Thursday.

Westfield played to a 1-1 tie Tuesday at Franklin Central in a conference game.

Both teams scored their goals in the first half. Jacob Sundo put in the Shamrocks’ goal right before halftime.

Westfield got a 1-0 win over Pike last Saturday. Oliver Church scored the Shamrocks’ goal off a free kick from Ace Loureiro.

The Rocks are 1-0-1 in HCC play and 2-0-1 overall. Westfield hosts Evansville North Saturday.

Noblesville played to a 0-0 tie with Avon Tuesday in the Millers’ first HCC contest of the season.

The Millers are 2-0-3 overall host Brebeuf Jesuit on Thursday.

Hamilton Heights dropped a 3-0 game to Park Tudor on Wednesday.

The Huskies are 1-2 and host New Castle on Thursday.
