Boys soccer: Huskies boys win their own Invitational

The Hamilton Heights boys soccer team triumphed at its own Husky Invitational on Sunday.
Heights won two games to claim the trophy at its invitational for the first time since 2013. In their first game, the Huskies beat Tipton 4-0. Then in the championship game, Heights played Crispus Attucks to a 3-3 tie. A penalty kick shootout was used to determine the winner, and the Huskies won.
Heights is 5-7 for the season and hosts McCutcheon on Tuesday.

Hamilton Southeastern’s boys team won a 2-1 game Saturday at Cathedral.
All of the goals were scored in the second half. The Irish got the first goal, but the Royals evened the game when Logan Wright made a penalty kick. Southeastern took the lead when Luke Irwin made a free kick from 22 yards out and Evan Dawdy hit it off the post and into the goal.
The Royals are 9-3-1 and host Zionsville on Tuesday for their Senior Night game.

The Hamilton Southeastern girls team beat Mount Vernon 3-2 in a Saturday away game.
The Royals scored first when Ella Wolf hit a penalty kick. The Marauders tied the game before halftime by scoring on a corner kick. In the second half, Olivia Smith put in a PK, but Mount Vernon tied the game again. Southeastern finally went ahead for good when Daniella Rios-Rojas scored the game-winner, with Ella Chester making the assist.
The Royals are 12-1-1 and play at Zionsville Wednesday.

Noblesville’s girls team got another Hoosier Crossroads Conference victory on Saturday, beating Brownsburg 5-1 at the Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex.
The Millers scored their first two goals quickly: Kiana Siefert got the first goal in the sixth minute after Ava Bramblett blasted a pass from 30 yards downfield. The second goal came in the seventh minute, when Lauren Adam crossed a ball into the goal box. It was deflected, but Bramblett got to the ball and sent it to Makenna Maloy, who put it in the net.
Brownsburg scored in the 19th minute, making the score 2-1. Noblesville scored again in the second half, with Meredith Tippner sending the ball to Tori Goodwin, who passed it to Bramblett for the score.
Goodwin also assisted the Millers’ fourth goal, when she sent a ball into the box. Marit McLaughlin then headed it into the net. Seconds later, Eva Montgomery crossed a ball to Stella Scroggin, who headed it in for her first career goal.
Noblesville is 5-0 in the HCC and 10-0 overall. The Millers play Monday at Carmel.

Guerin Catholic’s girls team scored a big win at Evansville Memorial on Saturday, beating the Tigers 2-1.
Sutton Worman scored both of the Golden Eagles’ goals, with Hailey Abel and Mia Gatz each dishing out one assist.
Guerin Catholic is 5-2-2 for the season and plays Monday at Cathedral.

Carmel’s boys team dropped a 2-1 game at Homestead Friday night.
Ricky Monsey scored his first career goal, with Will Morgan making the assist.
The Greyhounds are 7-3-1 and host Pike Tuesday in a Metropolitan Conference game.

Westfield’s boys team cruised past Lebanon 5-0 on Saturday.
Jacob Shurman put in three goals for the Shamrocks, with Caden Harrison and Bryce Dolenc each scoring one. Declan Wheeler, Beck Hunter and Dolenc all handed out one assist. Liam Lloyd made five goalkeeper saves and Henry Yoder had three.
Westfield is 6-3-1 and plays Tuesday at Brownsburg.

Westfield’s girls team played Brebeuf Jesuit to a 1-1 tie on Saturday.
The Shamrocks are 4-3-4 and host Pendleton Heights on Monday.
