Boys soccer: Greyhounds, Huskies, Golden Eagles, Shamrocks score victories

The Carmel boys soccer team got a victory on Monday, beating Pike 2-1.

All of the goals were scored in the second half. Chasen Cunningham and Matthew Schilt both scored one goal for the Greyhounds, with Cunningham assisting Schilt’s goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Gray Morgan made nine saves.

Carmel is 2-0 for the season. The Greyhounds’ next game is Tuesday against Greenfield-Central.

Hamilton Heights began its season Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over Yorktown.

The game was tied 2-2 at halftime before the Huskies took over in the second half. Carson Felger and Noah Cordero both scored two goals, with Bryce Hutcherson adding one goal. Felger was named the Player of the Match by first-year coach Collin Luckey.

Heights plays at home tonight against Pendleton Heights.

Guerin Catholic cruised to a 4-0 win over Park Tudor on Tuesday.

Robbie Burt put in three goals for the Golden Eagles, with Gavin Rieck scoring one goal. Rieck also had an assist, along with Cameron Parker, Cade Tyson and Connor Klein.

Guerin Catholic is 1-1 for the season; the Golden Eagles dropped their opener 3-1 last Saturday to Pendleton Heights. Guerin Catholic plays tonight at Heritage Christian.

Westfield beat Fishers 2-1 on Tuesday in an all-county and Hoosier Crossroads Conference game. It was also the season opener for the Shamrocks.

Oliver Church and Alec Schurman scored one goal each for Westfield, while Adam Maddi scored the Tigers’ goal off an assist by Cole Anderson. Austin Butler had seven goalkeeper saves for the Rocks.

The Shamrocks play Pike on Saturday. Fishers is 1-1 and will compete in the Noblesville Midwest Showcase this weekend, playing Detroit Catholic Central on Friday and Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller on Saturday.

Noblesville played to a 1-1 tie with Perry Meridian on Tuesday.

The game was scoreless at halftime, with Millers goalkeeper Alex Eberhart saving a penalty kick attempt. Noblesville converted its own PK attempt in the second half, with Caden Rice putting the ball in the net. The Falcons tied the game with 22 minutes left, and the score stayed 1-1 from there.

The Millers are 1-0-1 and host the NHS Midwest Showcase this weekend. Noblesville played Louisville St. Xavier on Friday and Okemos (Mich.) on Saturday.

Hamilton Southeastern played to a 0-0 tie with Cathedral on Tuesday.

Senior Cam Joniec had four saves as the Royals’ goalkeeper. Southeastern is 1-0-1 and plays at Guerin Catholic on Saturday afternoon.

Sheridan dropped its season opener to Southmont Monday, 3-2.

Daniel Idrovo and Jackson Aleman both scored one goal for the Blackhawks. Sheridan plays Delphi tonight to begin Hoosier Heartland Conference play.
