Ascendium Education Group gives $11K

2020 was an extraordinary year that brought big challenges for the nation, and Noblesville and surrounding communities were no exception.

Unfortunately, during times of crisis, nonprofits will often see a decreased level of donations as individual and businesses experience financial difficulties. This is why Ascendium Education Group stepped up corporate giving for its adopted organization in Indiana, the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville.

This year, Ascendium has increased its local community giving in every community in which their employees live and work, recognizing the importance of flexibility and responsiveness in times of crisis and community need. This donation is part of Ascendium’s annual giving program, which includes both employee and corporate giving. Ascendium upped its annual giving with a 3-to-1 corporate match for every employee donation, resulting in a gift of over $11,000 to the Club.

The Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville is dedicated to inspiring and enabling all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens by promoting leadership, character, health and physical development. This dovetails with Ascendium’s mission to champion opportunity in education to help everyone reach their full potential.

Terry

Becky Terry, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club-Noblesville, said, “I am completely blown away by this generosity! The impact this gift will have is tremendous. I am humbled by your commitment to our organization and the kids that we serve. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of our members, staff, and board of directors. We have faced many challenges over the past nine months and it’s the support and caring hearts like yours that ensure that the needs of our youth are being met.”

Terry said specific disbursement of the funds is still being decided, but the money is being used to provide programs and activities in the areas of academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character and leadership.

“Despite the fact that things look a little different within our walls these days, we are still challenging our kids to reach their full potential,” Terry noted.

Duke Energy grant will increase STEM opportunities

The Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville (BGCN) recently received a $2,500 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to increase STEM opportunities to underrepresented youth, ensuring the Club’s members are on track to great futures.

The grant will help BGCN offer programs such as Claymation, Coding, Robotix and Summer Brain Gain.  All of these programs place an emphasis on innovation and creativity while empowering youth to develop real-world problem solving.

“The generosity of the Duke Energy Foundation will positively impact the youth we serve with opportunities to learn and explore new STEM activities,” said BGCN Executive Director Becky Terry. “Their commitment to local youth continually goes above and beyond.”

Grant funds will be used to purchase equipment, supplies and orchestrate the curriculum.

“Together, we can produce a generation of STEM-ready graduates, equipped to solve our nation’s most critical challenges,” Terry continued.
