Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville breaks ground next Tuesday

The Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville invites the public to attend a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, May 9 at 10 a.m. at 1700 Conner Street at the site of the new Club facility. The new 33,900 square foot facility is being built adjacent to the current Community Center, and will assist in keeping up with the rapid growth the Club has experienced in recent years.

The new facility allows for the Club to increase programming and therefore its impact on its participants.  Amenities that will be added with the new facility include a music room, healthy lifestyles or fitness room, a dedicated cafeteria for meals programs, auditorium for additional performing arts activities, and outdoor green space that will include a playground.

“Being able to offer outdoor play for our members is very exciting to us as we know the many benefits it provides to children.  Research clearly indicates physical, cognitive, and social/emotional development comes with outdoor play.  It allows children to build autonomy, utilize their creativity, and it gives them an opportunity to practice decision-making and communication skills.  And of course, they can unplug, explore nature, and have some fun!” says Becky Terry, Executive Director.

The Build Grow Capital Campaign was able to reach and exceed their fundraising goal of $6 million by raising $6.8 million over the course of the past two years.  Over 20 naming rights opportunities were made available for the new Club, such as the teen center, gymnasium, and kitchen.  In addition to naming rights, the public still has the opportunity to purchase personally engraved bricks for the Pathways to Great Futures campaign that will line the sidewalk leading to the new Club.

“We’ve had tremendous local support,” says Jerry Collins, Past President of the Board and Co-Chair of the Build & Grow Capital Campaign. “The community has always stepped-up to help make improvements happen to the Boys & Girls Club, which allows us to better provide services and activity options for the kids involved in the program. It is a great investment in our future, our community, and we are excited to get started.”

Speaking at the groundbreaking will be Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear, Campaign Chair Senator Luke Kenley, and BGCN Executive Director Becky Terry.
