‘Blazers end long losing streak to Park Tudor

What’s better than improving your record to 2-0 during the first week of the basketball season?
How about snapping a long losing streak against an opponent.
The University boys basketball team achieved both of those accomplishments on Wednesday night. After being beaten by Park Tudor 10 games in a row, the Trailblazers ended that skid with a runaway 50-35 victory at the Panther’s gym.
Park Tudor led 8-7 after the first quarter and 20-19 at halftime. The Panthers went ahead 30-24 in the third quarter, but University called a timeout, then outscored Park Tudor 10-0 in the last three minutes of the period.
That put the ‘Blazers ahead 34-30 after three, and University blasted through the fourth quarter, outscoring the Panthers 16-5. That last time the Trailblazers had beaten Park Tudor was Nov. 23, 2005.
University had incredibly balanced scoring. Ethan Sickels led with 11 points, with David Howard and Zack Hodgin each adding 10 points. Sickels threw in three 3-pointers, while Hodgin grabbed seven rebounds.
The ‘Blazers play their next game at home, welcoming Indiana Math & Science to the U Center on Dec. 1.
