‘Blazers drop PAAC championship game

The University girls two-year reign as champions of the Pioneer Academic Athletic Conference ended Saturday afternoon when the Trailblazers dropped a 62-50 decision at Greenwood Christian Academy.
The Cougars led from start to finish and held a double-digit lead for the last 20 minutes of the game. University committed eight first quarter turnovers as Greenwood Christian led 18-7 after one quarter. The Cougars stretched their lead to a commanding 37-18 at halftime, using a 12-1 scoring advantage at the foul line to pad their lead.
University outscored their foes 19-12 in the fourth quarter, but never threatened Greenwood Christian.
Sierra Hinds led University with 16 points and Kelsey DuBois had 15. Payton Seay had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kamryn Washington (four) and Abby Hannon (two) rounded out the scoring for University.
The Trailblazers have lost three games in a row and are 8-3 on the season. University will host Purdue Poly Wednesday night at The U Center. Greenwood Christian is 12-6 on the season.
