University cruised into the championship game of Class 1A Sectional 58 on Saturday, beating host Bethesda Christian 23-1 in five innings.
The Trailblazers scored in all five innings, starting with a run in the first inning when Dawson Estep got home on Ben Westerkamm’s RBI groundout. University then added three runs in the second inning and 10 runs in the third. Adam Oxley hit two doubles in that inning, with his first scoring a run and his second double sending home three runs.
Estep, Tyler Galyean and Matt Moore also had two hits, with one of Estep’s hits a double. Westerkamm and Galyean both batted in three runs. Estep and Nate Shatkowski both scored four runs, with Oxley scoring three. Galyean pitched three innings for the win.
The Trailblazers are 17-10-1 and play Traders Point Christian at 11 a.m. Monday for the Sectional 58 championship.
