Eric Major and Camden Brown each scored a career-high 17 points to power the University boys to an easy 91-33 rout of Anderson Prepatory Academy Saturday night at the U Center.
The Trailblazers clinched the Pioneer Conference (PAAC) North division championship with the win and will host Shortridge in the PAAC championship game in February.
Making his first career start, Major recorded a double-double pulling down 10 rebounds to go with his 17 points.The senior made eight of nine field goal attempts on the evening. Brown was 6-for-7 from the field and made all five free throws.The sophomore collected seven rebounds.
Joe Martin had 11 points, Corey Ash-Simpson and Quinn Steiner each had nine and Nate Shatkowski added eight as University improved to 14-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the PAAC North.The win was the Blazers 15th straight PAAC North triumph.
Brown scored the first eight points of the game as University established a double digit lead four minutes in to the game.The Trailblazers forced 16 first half turnovers and led 25-11 at the quarter and 49-20 at halftime. University outscored the Jets 27-4 in the third quarter as the University starters went to the bench midway through the period.
University coach Brandon Lafferman was pleased with the performance of his inside players.”Teams usually concentrate on our guards.Our three guys around the hoop did a good job on the glass and finishing tonight.”The trio of Brown, Major and Ash-Simpson were 18 of 20 from the field and had 21 rebounds.
University had an outstanding 19 to 6 assist to turnover ratio.Martin had five assists and Sam Mervis and Max Greenamoyer each handed out four assists.
University is next in action Tuesday, Feb. 5 at International.
