Sheridan’s girls kept their win streak rolling on Thursday by toughing out a victory over Bethesda Christian 43-40 at Larry Hobbs Hall.
The Blackhawks zoomed out to an 18-6 lead after the first period. Kenzie Garner had an outstanding quarter, draining four 3-pointers on her way to 14 points. The Patriots cut into Sheridan’s lead slightly in the second quarter, but the ‘Hawks still led 29-19 at halftime.
The third period was a defensive one, with Bethesda holding Sheridan to three points and cutting the Blackhawks’ lead to 32-28. The fourth quarter was close, but Sheridan held on, with Cecilia Timme scoring five points to help secure the victory.
Garner reached double-double status with 24 points (including five 3s) and 10 rebounds; she also had four assists and four blocked shots. Timme scored nine and pulled seven rebounds, while Mac Smith added eight points, going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
The Blackhawks are 8-2, having won their last eight games. Sheridan travels to Eastern tonight for a 6 p.m. Hoosier Heartland Conference game.
