Blackhawks win season opener

The Sheridan boys basketball team won its season opener on Saturday night, beating Anderson Prep on the road 54-39.
The teams were tied at 12-12 after the first quarter, but the Blackhawks pulled away in the second period to lead 31-20. The Jets made a comeback in the third quarter, cutting Sheridan’s lead to 38-33, but the ‘Hawks cruised through the fourth period 16-6.
Caleb Duke and Nick Burnell each scored 10 points. Burnell reached double-double status with 10 rebounds and also made five steals. Duke went 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Drake Delph added nine points and made four steals. Jesse Kolb scored nine and pulled seven rebounds.
Sheridan plays at Faith Christian on Tuesday.
