Blackhawks stay perfect in conference play, Royals take down Greyhounds, Tigers & Huskies fall to opponents

The Sheridan boys soccer team finished a perfect Hoosier Heartland Conference season this week with two big wins on consecutive nights.

First, the Blackhawks beat Tri-Central 2-1 in a Wednesday road game. Dayton Kirlin and Jackson Aleman both scored one goal, with Carsen Aleman making one assist. Goalkeeper Zachary Phillips had five saves.

Sheridan returned home on Thursday to take on Rossville. The Hawks clinched the unbeaten conference champion by taking care of Rossville 2-1.

All of the goals were scored in the first half. Jackson Aleman put in the first goal off an assist by Victor Galvez Mena. Trace Knight added the second goal with under four minutes to go in the half. The Hornets scored with two seconds left before the break, but would get no closer.

Sheridan completed conference play with a 6-0 record and is 10-4-2 overall. The Blackhawks travel to the Southmont sectional Monday to play a first-round game with University.

Hamilton Southeastern won an all-county match over Carmel 1-0 Thursday at the Greyhounds’ Brian Murray Stadium.

Jack Anderson scored the goal for the Class 3A No. 2 Royals, who finished the regular season with a 10-0-5 record. The 3A No. 18 Greyhounds completed their regular season at 5-7-3.

Southeastern will host Sectional 8; the Royals play a first-round match Tuesday against Pendleton Heights. Carmel is hosting Sectional 9; the Greyhounds got a bye and play Brebeuf Jesuit Wednesday in the semifinals.

Fishers fell to 3A No. 1 Center Grove 2-0 on Thursday to finish the regular season.

The Tigers are 9-4-3 and play at the Hamilton Southeastern sectional next week. Fishers got a bye and will play semifinal Wednesday against the winner of a Monday first-round game between Anderson and Richmond.

Hamilton Heights dropped a 5-1 game to Muncie Burris Wednesday in the Huskies’ regular-season finale.

Carson Felger scored Heights’ goal, assisted by Noah Cordero.

The Huskies are 5-10-1 and play Tri-West Tuesday in the first round of the Park Tudor sectional.
