Sheridan rolled into the Class 1A Sectional 46 championship game Friday with a 48-20 win at Clinton Prairie.
The Blackhawks scored the lone touchdown of the first quarter when Owen Bell punched the ball in from the one-yard line. Sheridan scored again early in the second period with a 10-yard TD run from Jon Barnes.
The Hawks led 14-12 late in the second quarter, but scored again on the last play of the first half: Bell connected with Dayne Voege for a 34-yard touchdown pass. Bell made all three extra point kicks in the first half and Sheridan led 21-12 at the break.
Jacob Hall added a last-minute third quarter touchdown with a six-yard rush, sending Sheridan into the fourth quarter with a 28-20 lead. The Blackhawks kept their feet on the gas during that final period, putting up 20 points. Bell and Hall both made 10-yard touchdown runs, and Ryker Ream added another TD with a 36-yard fumble recovery return for a score.
Alex Cravens led the Sheridan rushing with 115 yards. Bell was 9-for-14 throwing the ball, totaling 180 yards; he also made all six of his extra-point kicks.
The Blackhawks are 6-4 for the season and return to Bud Wright Stadium next Friday after playing their first two sectional games on the road. Sheridan will host Cloverdale for the Sectional 46 championship.
