Sheridan fell behind 12-0 at halftime at Western Boone on Friday, and eventually lost 19-7 in its opening game.
The Class 1A No. 9 Blackhawks’ lone score came early in the fourth quarter, when Gunner Williams took a four-yard pass from Drake Delph into the end zone. Williams then converted the extra point kick.
“They came out and made the plays,” said Bud Wright of the 2A No. 9 Stars. “We were lazy the first half. “
Delph finished the game with 71 yards passing, completing seven of 12 attempts. Joe Callahan led Sheridan’s rushing with 79 yards.
The ‘Hawks return to Bud Wright Stadium next Friday to play old rival Clinton Central. It will also be the first Hoosier Heartland Conference game for both teams.
