Blackhawks blow by Bulldogs in first half, now 2-0 in conference play

Sheridan ran its Hoosier Heartland Conference record to 2-0 Friday with a 43-26 win at Clinton Central.

The second quarter was the difference for the Blackhawks, as they outscored the Bulldogs 14-0 in that period for a 21-6 halftime lead. Jaylen Arnold opened the quarter with a 12-yard touchdown run, then Brock Hagan punched the ball in from the one midway through the quarter.

Arnold and Hagan teamed up for a score in the first quarter, connecting on a nine-yard TD pass play. Owen Bell kicked all three extra points.

Sheridan stayed comfortably ahead of Clinton Central in the second half. Alex Cravens helped out with two short touchdown runs, scoring in the third quarter and at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Bell completed the scoring with a one-yard TD run late in the fourth.

Arnold totaled 177 yards on the ground, with Cravens racking up 123 yards. Bell was 5-of-5 in extra points and ran in a two-point conversion after scoring his touchdown.

The Blackhawks are currently tied in the early HHC standings with Carroll and Clinton Prairie, as all teams are 2-0 in league play. Sheridan is 2-2 overall and will play at Prairie next Friday.
