Billy G. Gentry

January 15, 1945 – February 6, 2022

Billy G. Gentry passed from this world into the hands of HIS loving Savior, Jesus The Christ, on February 6, 2022. Bill heard Jesus say, “Well done! Come Home my beloved son. Your work is finished. Enter into your eternal rest.”

Bill was born on January 15, 1945, in Tippecanoe, Ohio, to the late Darwin Gentry and Buna Vesta Palk Gentry. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Everyone who had any association with “Mr. Bill” was impressed by his kindness and skills as a builder of homes and men. He was a soft-spoken gentleman who always served others before himself. Bill loved working with the men of Bible Study Fellowship for the past 20+ years as assistant Class Administrator. He loved to sing Christian music, was often called “The Music Man” and would burst into song backing up scripture. While much more can be said about this gentle giant, Bill preferred to stay in the background. He always left each person with a word from Jesus.

We are so blessed to be a part of the Colonial Hills Baptist Church Family, and Eagle Creek Grace Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Akers Gentry; Jackie’s son, Andrew D. Hawley; Jackie’s daughter, Amanda Hawley Voeller; Bill’s son, Darek Gentry and wife, Shelli; grandson, Kasey Gentry; granddaughter, Sydney Gentry; brother, Vernon M. Gentry; sister, Joan Ruzick-Bibb and husband, Richard; and brother, Terry Gentry.

While we would like to list everyone in his wonderful family individually, Bill has gone ahead of 14 extraordinary nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life service will be planned for the future.

Memorial contributions may be offered to Colonial Hills Baptist Church Missions, 8140 Union Chapel Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
