State Senator Tim Lanane’s (D-Anderson) Senate Bill 67 passed out of the House Wednesday, its final step before heading to the Governor.
The proposed bill would adjust the required value of estates that are unsupervised or passed by affidavit. This would help ease the distribution of assets after an owner’s passing.
Sen. Lanane released this statement following the passage of his bill:
“I appreciate the House passing this common sense legislation. My proposal will allow Hoosiers to settle estates through a simpler process than the one we have now at what can be a difficult time. I want to especially express my gratitude to Representative DeLaney and Representative Torr for all their help in getting this legislation passed. This straightforward bill will be a big help to families dealing with a left behind estate after the passing of a relative, and I’m glad we were able to get it approved this session.”
SB 67 will now go to the Governor’s desk for final consideration.
