Bike the West Loop in Carmel this coming week

Bike Carmel: Slow Roll Ride, Conquer the CAB (Carmel Access Bikeway) presented by IU Health North Hospital is looking a little different.

In 2020, riders were set to Conquer the CAB routes in Carmel by riding them together. But, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ride has been changed to make it a self-guided event that can be done with family members and friends while observing safe physical distancing.

There are five CAB routes of varying distances. In May, riders started with the shortest route, the City Center Loop at 6.8 miles. In June, riders conquered the White River Loop at 7.2 miles.

This month, riders will step up the distance a bit and conquer the West Loop. There is a small portion of the West Loop at the corner of Shelborne Road and Eagle Creek Avenue in Westfield that does not have signage. At this intersection, remember to take a left turn (southwest).

Beginning Saturday, July 11 through Sunday, July 19, you can explore the West Loop (9.7 miles) and take a photo at any of the various routing signs and post it to the Facebook event.

One rider selected from the pictures posted will be awarded a $50 gift card to a local Carmel business. Click here to find links to each of the five CAB routes along with printable maps and queue sheets.

The City of Carmel, Bike Carmel and IU Health North Hospital are looking forward to another exciting year of bicycling in the community. More information can be found on the Bike Carmel Facebook page or by emailing bikecarmel@carmel.in.gov. Remember to keep safe physical distancing in mind, wear a mask when appropriate and keep the rubber side down.
