One bike, one youth, one relationship at a time
The City of Carmel and Bike Carmel will host, what has become, Freewheelin’ Community Bikes’ annual Fall Donation Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 in the Carmel City Hall parking lot.
Do you have an old bike in the garage or some leftover parts lying around? Help the city and Freewheelin’ Community Bikes get these into the hands of kids.
Participants are asked to consider donating bicycles and bicycle components that you’re no longer using. Help beat the 2021 collection number of 92 bikes. (76 bikes in 2020!) Bicycle donations are an important part of Freewheelin’ Community Bikes’ mission to provide safe, reliable, and affordable transportation. The following items are especially useful:
- Bikes with multiple speeds/gears
- Quality bike shop brand-names and vintage steel frame bikes
- Modern comfort bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes and cruisers
- Bicycle parts
Donated products will be used to enrich youth programming and to provide affordable transportation options to the Freewheelin’ community. If your donation cannot be used by Freewheelin’ or its partners, they will responsibly recycle all metal. Last year Freewheelin’ Community Bikes recycled more than 4,000 pounds of metal waste.
When dropping off your donations, you will be asked to enter from the southeast corner of the parking lot and follow the signs to the northwest corner before exiting from the northeast exit back on to Veterans Way.
