A big third quarter made the difference for Westfield, as the Shamrocks took care of Pike 43-33 Tuesday at CSI Gymnasium.
It was a close contest in the first half. Westfield led 14-13 after the opening quarter and 23-21 at halftime. The Shamrocks’ defense took over in the third period, as Westfield outscored the Red Devils 16-4. The Shamrocks hung on in the fourth quarter for the victory.
Alyssa Crockett had another huge game, scoring 23 points and collecting 15 rebounds for a double-double. Crockett also blocked two shots. Olivia Robey added 12 points and pulled six rebounds and Ellie Kelleher had six rebounds as well.
The Shamrocks are 4-2 for the season. They will play Centerville (Ohio) Saturday afternoon at Brownsburg High School. Tipoff for the game is 3 p.m.
