Sheridan found itself in a 21-0 hole after the second quarter of its game with Seeger Friday night at Bud Wright Stadium.
The Blackhawks made a comeback in the fourth period, but the Patriots’ early lead was too much to overcome. Sheridan lost 28-14, ending a two-game win streak.
“We just didn’t believe that we were going to get the job done,” said Wright.
The ‘Hawks scored both of their touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Cameron Hovey got into the end zone first on a one-yard run. Later, with less than a minute to go, Jalen Herron scored on a 26-yard run, after which Silas DeVaney threw a two-point conversion pass to Keenan Warren. Wright credited his team with playing a “different ball game” in the second half.
Hovey led the Sheridan rushing with 55 yards.
The Blackhawks fell to 4-2 with the loss. Sheridan returns to Hoosier Heartland Conference play next week by hosting Eastern. The Comets lead the HHC standings with a 5-0 record, while the ‘Hawks are 2-1 in the league.
