Sheridan held an early lead on McCutcheon Thursday, but the Mavericks took over in the second quarter and eventually won 64-38 at Hobbs Memorial Hall.
The Blackhawks were up 19-15 after the first quarter, with Heather Barker scoring eight points. But McCutcheon dominated the second period, allowing Sheridan only four points while scoring 23. The Mavericks led 38-23 at halftime, then outscored the ‘Hawks 26-15 in the second half.
Barker wound up with 12 points, while Jillian O’Flaherty scored seven; both made two 3-pointers. Olivia Raines pulled five rebounds, and Berkley Williams made four steals.
Sheridan is 9-10 and will host Rossville Tuesday in its final Hoosier Heartland Conference game of the season.
