Are you ready to bundle up for some ice cold competition and fun at the City of Carmel’s Ice at Center Green? Whether you are a spectator or you want to grab some friends and try your hand at some freezing fun, you won’t want to miss the Carmel Winter Games Feb. 21-23 at the Ice at Center Green.
The three-day event kicks off with a Thursday night of ice skating with the Indy Fuel & Nitro, featuring Carmel Icehounds Hockey Club. Bring your kids for autographs and selfies with one of Indy’s favorite mascots.
On Friday night, come out and cheer for your favorite firefighter or police officer as the “Hometown Herolympics” features the first round of big kids playing big games on the ice, including “human curling,” an ice trike relay and “human hungry hippo” complete with inner tubes, laundry baskets and hundreds of bouncing balls.
On Saturday, the skateless competition on ice continues with the Carmel Winter Games Challenge, featuring the same trio of big games, but with competition featuring anyone willing to give it a try. This is an open team competition: Anyone interested in competing is encouraged to click here and sign up as soon as possible. Teams of four to 12 people will be able to enter the competition. There is a required donation of $300 per team and all proceeds go to the Food Pantry at Carmel United Methodist Church.
In addition to Saturday’s action on the ice, the Ice at Center Green will also feature a Kids Play Area, Live DJ and a Meet the Mascots session. Kids can also get in on free Dilly Bars from the Carmel Dairy Queen (while supplies last) and adults can enjoy the beverages sold by Danny Boy Beer Works. When the winter chill starts to settle in, spectators can make their way to one of the Ice at Center Green igloo’s for a quick warm-up inside these fun, furnished and heated enclosures.
Admission is free and all events are open to the public. For more information, visit TheIceAtCenterGreen.com.
