Bass Pro Shops is giving away more than 40,000 rods and reels to local youth nonprofit organizations.
The Gone Fishing movement challenges families to step away from their screens, discover the joys of fishing, and connect with nature in an age of technology and fast-paced environments. To receive their local donation, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s retail stores have intentionally selected youth organizations that help kids from all backgrounds connect with the great outdoors.
The Boys and Girls Club of Noblesville is receiving over 100 rods and reels to use for upcoming excursions or Camp Crosser.
As part of the company’s effort to inspire future generations to enjoy, love, and conserve the great outdoors, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s will also host free, family-friendly, in-store fishing events, taking place over two weekends: June 10 & 11 and June 17 & 18.
Kids of all ages are invited to catch their first fish at the store’s free catch-and-release ponds and take home a free “O-Fish-Ally an Angler” certificate to commemorate the moment. Kids will also receive a free digital photo download with their catch of the day. Tackle box giveaways will be available at seminar stations while supplies last.
Since the Gone Fishing program’s inception, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s have donated more than 400,000 items to youth-focused nonprofit organizations across North America.
